Metzeler rider Taddy Blazusiak chases Endurocross title
Metzeler supported rider Taddy Blazusiak is in a much better place to defend his AMA Endurocross title – he is now within three points of the championship leader after a second place result in round four of the event.
Taking place in Denver, USA, Taddy quickly settled down on track, but a front-end wash-out in the qualifying heat meant he hit his head on the ground. The four-times Endurocross champion still managed to make it into the main event, though.
Gating third, Taddy remained in fourth position for a few laps before riding past current overall championship leader Mike Brown. Taddy then rode well and spent the last closing laps trying to catch race leader Cody Webb, but had to settle for second place.
Taddy said: “It was a pretty tough night for me. Although I wasn’t feeling great [after hitting his head earlier], I knew scoring points was important. I took my time and eventually got ahead of Mike Brown, and then up to second.
“I ran out of laps to do anything about Cody up front, who rode a great race. Although I wasn’t able to get the win, I managed to close the gap at the top of the championship to three points, with three races remaining.”
Round 5 – Everett, WA, 26 Oct
Round 6 – Boisse, ID, 9 November
Round 7 – Las Vegas, NV, 23 November
