2013 Ride to Work Day biggest ever!
Lots of you took part in the annual Ride to Work Day back on Monday, 17 June.
Well, the event was a big success, building on the popularity from the last few years, with bike dealers, biker cafes and motorcycling companies up and down the country taking part.
2013 saw the largest measured rider participation ever, with over 8000 riders on the Ride to Work Day Facebook page and another 1200 on Twitter all pledging their support, which is pretty good going.
Manufacturer support came from Harley Davidson, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda and ZingBikes, while insurance companies, BikeSure, Carol Nash, MCE and Bennetts all helped promote the event and hold their own Ride to Work Day celebrations. Lots of the manufacturers took the opportunity to promote riding to their non-riding employees, and even get them on to a bike for the first time.
Dealers and biker cafes opened early, with special offers and free bacon sandwiches, cakes and hot drinks to welcome riders. Even councils in Leicestershire and Neath held riding events in their car parks, with free bacon rolls for passing bikers.
